Giana grew up in Haverstraw, NY and is now residing in Nyack, NY with her dog Max and two cats Luna and Nuvem. Before going for her degree in Math and Science, she had traveled to volunteer on organic farms!
She spends a majority of her time hiking new trails and testing her knowledge. Equally so, she loves being on the road and exploring new places. After she had graduated she was looking for a more unique job, something that’ll keep her on her toes. She’s very excited to spend the day hiking with your four legged friends!
I do believe that this kind of job requires big hearts. I absolutely love all kinds of animals and will always make sure that any animal in my care feels safe and comfortable. I have always been the one to call when family and friends needed care for their pets.
I have spent years working outdoors and finally finding something that combined both things I love, is more like a gift than a duty. My goal when I start my day is to make your dogs happy. My goal is to get your dogs excited when they see my van pull in your driveway. It’s to give them that freedom with their best furry friends, and bring them home in absolute bliss!
What do you enjoy about working at Active Dog?
I enjoy so many things working here. Starting with the staff, Active Dog has some of the best people I have ever met working on it’s team. It is so incredible to be a part of a staff that is so reliable, transparent, and motivated.
Secondly, the dogs of course! They never, ever make the day boring. Monday has actually been a day to look forward to. Lastly, the hike! Before Active Dog, I didn’t think something like this would be possible. Getting out there on the hike and seeing all the dogs play, run, jump, and swim all together is as incredible as you may think it is.
What did you do before you worked at Active Dog and why did you decide to work with dogs?
Before working at Active Dog, I was working three jobs while going to school full time. In the summer I would work on my local farm, as well as waitressing and retail. Once covid hit my waitressing and retail job closed down as I started my summer internship with my town’s Conservations Corp. It was an incredible experience!
In July things started opening up little by little. I was back at my jobs as well as fully graduated from college. I began to look for full-time jobs and found Active Dog on indeed and called Eric immediately after I applied! Dogs + Nature = A Dream!
