Dog Hiker
My grandfather raised German Shepards and my father taught us to be confident leaders with our dogs. I grew up with a variety of different breeds and personalities. We had German Shepard rescues that were rather timid and labs that needed to first learn how to hike on leash. I have a lot of experience, intuition and training with dogs and absolutely love animals!
A friend spoke very highly of Active Dog and recommended it for our dog. The more I looked into the company for Jesse the more I wanted to work for them! I love the dedication Active Dogs has with their packs and admire where each hiker has come from.
Yours dogs are hiking with people that are knowledgeable and truly enjoy being with them. I worked many years and many hours in administrative roles in the Healthcare field and have felt a strong pull to do more of what I love!
Favorite type of dog?
I love all dogs but I am especially fond of Goldens, Bernese Mountain dogs and Shepards because I grew up surrounded by them. I also have a soft spot for Beagles because we had the silliest beagle, Annie.
Favorite season to hike in?
I love hiking in the crisp winter snow and love both spring and fall hiking. It makes me happy to see the dogs go for dips in streams and seeing the forest change around me.
Do you have any pets of your own? If so, what kind?
We have cats, a hamster and our Golden, Jesse.
What’s your favorite way to spend a day/weekend off?
My favorite way to spend a day off is taking my kids and dog for a hike along the Salt Water Marsh in Fairfield. We also enjoy taking our dog to Weston for hikes.
Here’s a look at what’s happening on our nature hikes. We post photos and videos for every hike.
