How do dog nature hikes work?
We pick up your dog(s) at your home;
They’ll join our happy pack for some fun, socialization and exercise in the forest;
Then we bring them back to you safe, happy…and probably exhausted!
Door-to-Door Transport
We’ll set up a schedule that works for you and pick your dog up at home in our comfortable and secure “dog bus”.
Exercise and Socialization
Your dog will join up to a dozen canine “friends” to hike and run through the wilderness with on one of our three large parcels of land…usually off leash.
Videos and Photos
We photograph and video parts of every hike every day. You’ll have access to view/download our fun!
Land Acquisition Update:
Active Dog at Bethlehem Farm
With support from the respective municipalities and our clients, Active Dog made two significant and exciting purchases in 2022: a 357-acre parcel of beautiful, raw land, providing more private trails for our dogs to safely enjoy their daily hikes on, as well as a 190-acre farm for dog hiking and boarding. These two undertakings were enormous steps for our business!

We know you’ve got questions…here are some answers
How much fun will my dog have?
A ton of fun! Most of our client’s dogs can’t wait to jump into the van after they’ve gotten a couple of hikes under their belt. Some dogs even wait by the door each day waiting to go!
How long has Active Dog LLC been doing dog hiking, walking and boarding?
Active Dog was brought to life in October, 2011 by Eric Bleile with the help of his right hand dog, Tobias.
How do you pick up my dog if I’m not at home?
Most Active Dog clients provide us with one of the following: a hidden key location, an unlocked door or a garage code. Whatever you are most comfortable with.
What if my dog is aggressive with other dogs or people?
We offer a dog training package that could help with this, but if your dog is aggressive with people or other dogs we cannot take them out on group hikes for liability reasons.
Active Dog is by far the best dog walking service and value in the area. The owner and staff are friendly, professional, and extremely easy to work with. Our vet recommended that our dog get more exercise. Regular dog walking services are expensive for a short 15-20 minute walk. Active Dog takes the dogs on long hikes allowing the pups to run, play, and get the exercise they need. Our dog gets so excited on his hike days and comes home worn out!! I highly recommend this company to anyone in the area!!
Eric & his team are the best!! They have changed our 3 dogs lives! They are so excited to go on their adventures!! Eric & his staff are fun, honest and reliable! I love all the posts they share!! Thank you Active Dog for taking such good care of my fur babies!!
Great service! They have taken my dog on many hikes! He is always happy and tired when he is returned home! They have been available last minute to pick up my dog for the times that I haven’t scheduled in advance. Highly recommend!
The very best people to leave your dog with when you go away! Cooper was waiting for us at home, fed and clean and very well exercised! It was so great to be able to see him every day in the photos. Eric and team, if I could give you a million star rating, I would!! Thank you!

⭐️Dog(s) of the Week⭐️ MABEL & PEARL
Mabel started hiking with AD about 2 years ago and her little sister Pearl joined a year later. They make the sweetest golden duo, and though they love their pack mates, they spend most of their hikes wrestling with each other! Mabel was a little apprehensive when her energetic little sister first came home, but it didn’t take long before the two became the best of friends! Mabel and Pearl are inseparable! They do have their differences though. Pearl is always first out the door when the AD van pulls up, whereas Mabel takes a moment to wake up from her nap before making her way to the door. Pearl likes to spend her van ride playing while Mabel prefers to relax right behind the driver seat. This is where the differences end though! These girls hike alike! While out on the trails Mabel and Pearl love to cover lots of ground! They don’t stop moving and only slow down to partake in a game of Tug of War, usually with each other, or play in a mud puddle. Though they love their blonde fur, they enjoy seeing what it’s like to be brunettes for the day. Mabel and Pearl are as fun as they are loving and we are so happy they are a part of our AD family! Congratulations Mabel and Pearl!!! 💛💛 ... See MoreSee Less
