Dog Hiking Included Every Day While Boarding

Looking to travel but don’t want your dog to stay in a kennel? We’re here for you.

We offer boarding to our clients’ dogs who partake in our group nature hikes or dog walks on a recurring, weekly basis or who travel often. Our guest dogs stay at our beautiful farm located on 190 acres of land in central Connecticut, where we have large rooms for the dogs to relax and sleep in, large fenced in potty and play areas, as well as 60+ acres of fenced in woods to romp in!

What is Dog Boarding?

We help care for your dog while you’re away! Our boarding service includes pickup, drop-off (upon the day of your return), daily media posts, and regular updates via the Time To Pet software we use.

Your dog will be entertained, exercised, socialized, and well-loved while you’re away.

We offer our pickup service in the mornings and drop-off service in the early afternoons, six days a week to our client’s homes. (Every day except Sundays). Please send your dog with a labeled bag with their food, any instructions for feeding, treats, and a blanket if you’d like. Please do not send dog beds or crates :).

Dog hikes are required for each day of your dog’s boarding stay with us, including their pickup day and drop-off home day. If your dog is not able to hike every day due to age, soreness or injury, we will adapt to meet their needs by substituting in outdoor playtime and potty breaks in lieu of hikes.

Please make sure when packing for the overnight that you are not sending food bins or full large bags. Food should be in ziplock bags with just enough for the stay, including some for one extra day in case you need to extend your trip. If your dog runs out of food, we have freeze dried raw Get Joy beef kibble that we will give your dog at $20 a day.

HOW DO YOU PICK UP MY DOG IF I’M NOT AT HOME?

Most Active Dog clients provide us with one of the following: a hidden key location, an unlocked door or a garage code. Whatever you are most comfortable with.

HOW MUCH FUN WILL MY DOG HAVE?

A ton of fun! Most of our client’s dogs can’t wait to jump into the van after they’ve gotten a couple of hikes under their belt. Some dogs even wait by the door each day waiting to go!

WHAT IF MY DOG IS AGGRESSIVE WITH OTHER DOGS OR PEOPLE?

We offer a dog training package that could help with this, but if your dog is aggressive with people or other dogs we cannot take them out on group hikes for liability reasons.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

We allow our clients to cancel services up until 7 PM the night before. If a service is canceled after this time frame, we charge a 50% cancellation fee.

If we show up to walk or hike a client’s dog and either cannot get into the house or the dog isn’t home, the event will be completed, the client will be notified of the reason their dog did not join us and the client will be charged in full.

WHAT ABOUT HOLIDAYS, BUSY TIMES AND PEAK BOARDING DAYS?

On peak boarding days (i.e., holidays and busy travel times of the year), boarding services will require a $250 deposit per dog. Deposits will be applied to your bill; however cancellations within 14 days of check-in will forfeit your deposit.

*We do not conduct trial nights during our peak days which can be found below.

*We require that all dogs go on a minimum of two hikes prior to booking their trial night at The Farm.

*We require a trial night, for a cost, for all clients who have never been to The Farm before. We do this so that we can assure that The Farm is a good fit for your pup and vise versa. We want all of the dogs to be as comfortable as possible in our care! Trial nights preferably take place during the week.

*Once the dogs are at The Farm, one overnight and one hike is $150. We do not have the option to charge half days in Facility, nor assign services to staff, so the first hike of the stay is always booked separately and is considered payment for the half day the dogs are at The Farm.
