Geoff was born and raised in Connecticut. He has lived in Ridgefield since 1994, attending all the local schools and being part of the local soccer club from elementary through high school and also the high-school’s ultimate frisbee team. He grew up with family who instilled in him a love of the outdoors, nature and wildlife.
During his time off, Geoff can be found frequenting a nearby hike or finding a new trail to adventure. His goal is to hike all the 3,500-foot peaks in the Catskills, as well as do more hiking in the Adirondacks and White Mountains. When not hiking, he can be found on one of the many area disc golf courses. An avid enthusiast, he has participated in a variety of local tournaments.
Important Questions for Geoff
Why should you trust me with your dog?
You can trust me with your dog because I have a genuine and huge love for all animals, especially dogs. And, like dogs, I enjoy being outdoors, whatever the weather. I’ve spent over 10 years working with dogs throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties, training them on containment fences, and winning over even the most skittish canine. I think dogs can sense how much I care about them.
What do you enjoy about working at Active Dog?
There are a whole lot of reasons to love working at Active Dog, but my favorite is picking up a happy, almost smiling (sometimes actually smiling) dog and seeing that happy face in the car, on the hike, then back home. It brings a smile to my face, too, and so much enjoyment. Being outdoors, hiking through the woods, meeting new people, having a new pack of dogs every day are all activities that are truly special for a person like me.
What did you do before you worked at Active Dog and why did you decide to work with dogs?
Before joining Active Dog, I worked at Ridgefield Pet, designing and installing pet fences for clients and then training them and their dogs to stay safe and contained within their properties. Over the past 10 years, I’ve worked with over 2,000 dogs within Fairfield and Westchester counties.
I knew that by working with dogs I would be able to get to know each dog individually, including breed-specific behaviors. Each and every dog I have ever met has shared his/her personality with me — always a unique experience and greatly rewarding.

⭐️Dog(s) of the Week⭐️ MABEL & PEARL
Mabel started hiking with AD about 2 years ago and her little sister Pearl joined a year later. They make the sweetest golden duo, and though they love their pack mates, they spend most of their hikes wrestling with each other! Mabel was a little apprehensive when her energetic little sister first came home, but it didn’t take long before the two became the best of friends! Mabel and Pearl are inseparable! They do have their differences though. Pearl is always first out the door when the AD van pulls up, whereas Mabel takes a moment to wake up from her nap before making her way to the door. Pearl likes to spend her van ride playing while Mabel prefers to relax right behind the driver seat. This is where the differences end though! These girls hike alike! While out on the trails Mabel and Pearl love to cover lots of ground! They don’t stop moving and only slow down to partake in a game of Tug of War, usually with each other, or play in a mud puddle. Though they love their blonde fur, they enjoy seeing what it’s like to be brunettes for the day. Mabel and Pearl are as fun as they are loving and we are so happy they are a part of our AD family! Congratulations Mabel and Pearl!!! 💛💛 ... See MoreSee Less
