Eric Bleile

Eric grew up in Maine spending much of his childhood exploring the great outdoors and enjoying the company of his family dogs. Eric founded Active Dog in 2011 with his dependable, right hand “man” (or shall we say, dog) Tobias.

Weighing in at a whopping 140 pounds, Tobias, a Greater Swiss Mountain dog, was a gentle giant and loyal hiking companion. Tobias crossed the rainbow bridge on Easter morning of 2018 at age ten and a half and will always be remembered as the reason for Active Dog’s inception.

Golden soul, sweet loving Cooper, Eric’s family’s Golden Retriever, went on thousands of hikes and new client meetings. He was a huge part of Active Dog and for the nine years he was on this earth, was loved by all who met him. Cooper crossed the rainbow bridge on October 16th, 2023, but not before earning the love and admiration of thousands of Active Dog clients, friends and family. He is dearly missed and now reunited with Tobias again.

Eric currently lives in Weston, Connecticut, with his wife Tara, three young sons Casen, Brayden and Everett, and their Golden Retriever, Rip, English Cream Retriever, Cammy and Black Lab, Onyx. He has a Master’s degree in Financial Risk Management from the University of Connecticut and enjoys playing golf, skiing and performing with his modern-country band, Hazzard County.
